Our recent study (in partnership with Huawei AppGallery and Headspace) identified that 65% of people in the UK have felt more stressed than ever before since the COVID-19 restrictions began in March 2020. The data, gathered from 2000 British adults gave us a good insight into how stress, anxiety and the restrictions on our daily lives have negatively affected the mental health of the nation.

The key causes for concern are feelings of disconnection, uncertainty, and a worrying loss of control. Inspired by the Mental Health Awareness Foundation (MHAF) and their theme “Nature” for the Mental Health Week in May 2021 we want to keep up the momentum created during Stress Awareness Month and continue to destigmatise mental health and providing the much needed advice, support and guidance to achieve optimal wellbeing.

Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW) was conceived in the UK back in 2001 with the aim to improve everyone’s mental wellbeing by taking a public approach to talk openly about mental health issues, their prevention, and finding solutions to individuals and those at risk. It has become one of the most significant issues affecting the global population and we are very happy that MHAW is recognised and observed around the world. The theme for this year is “Nature”. MHAF research has found that one of our top coping strategies was being outdoors and going for a walk during the various lockdowns and restrictions we have faced over the last year. 45% of us reported that being in a green space played a vital role in our mental health. Moreover, wider studies found, that during lockdowns, as well as people spending more time in nature, they became more aware of it. Our approach

To harmonise with the MHAW theme of “Nature”, we will be focusing throughout the month of May on connecting you to nature and the natural world. In addition to this, and possibly even more importantly, to your inner nature. Looking at our core, natural needs to achieve optimal wellbeing.

Based on our data and research these are defined by our ‘5 Pillars of Wellness’:

1. Mental

2. Physical

3. Emotional

4. Social

5. Spiritual

There is no health without mental health. Mental health is an integral part of everyone’s wellbeing. Moreover, it determines our attitude, behaviour and optimism for the future. Therefore, our aim for this month is to get people the advice, support and guidance they need to take a more natural approach to life. We are here to inspire, empower and educate you to ensure your core needs are met to prevent more serious Health or Mental Health issues.
