I was stressed before I even went into the session, worrying about the work that wouldn’t be getting done while I was on yet another course! However, I can honestly say, I felt completely different by the end of the session, as the 3 hours I spent on that course were the 3 most valuable hours I’ve spent at work in a very long time. I’d even go as far as saying it was the most useful training course I’ve ever attended at work. The session was very engaging and allowed the group to explore what stress meant to each of us, how it affects us in positive and negative ways, how it affects other people and how we can spot the signs of stress in our colleagues and offer help. We were shown great stress-reducing techniques which I use and it has dramatically changed the way I approach my day-to-day routine and my attitude to work for the better. ‘Like many companies during this difficult economic climate we are asking for greater productivity and efficiency from our employees. We realised that this was resulting in increased pressure and stress at work and beginning to show itself through increased sickness absence and difficulties for some in maintaining a healthy work/homelife balance.

We contacted The Stress Management Society and were immediately impressed with their knowledge about the impact of stress and their passion about encouraging organisations to think about solutions for dealing with it.

During November 2012 all of our employees attended either half day or full day workshops to raise awareness of stress, provide tactics and tips for dealing with it; and ultimately how each employee can excel whilst still being under pressure.

We have received positive feedback from the majority of participants who felt that the sessions were relevant, enjoyable and time well spent away from their desks. The stress audit completed prior to the workshops provided some background information and in particular helped the management team have a better understanding of specific issues related to stress. Following on, the workshops have provided an opportunity to look at other ideas to ensure we continue to put the wellbeing of our staff as a priority.’
