On Monday, we reported a donation from Marko Goodwin. We are thrilled to announce that Uplands Community Collage has generously donated an additional £589 to The Stress Management Society in support Marko’s mission. The funds were raised by the school, parents and students. This brings the grand total to a whopping £1394.
Marko Goodwin was a former Uplands student, whose father was also a much-loved Head of Science at the college. Marko’s accident in 1988 left him with a severe head injury meaning that he spent time in hospital and was told that he would need to stay in residential care for the rest of his life. Although Marko is in a wheelchair most of the time, he is completing 200 lengths of his parallel walking bars and raising money for The Stress Management Society at the same time. Uplands wanted to support Marko in this aim.
Quote from the Principal of Uplands Community College, Justine Mountford:
“When we heard about Marko, and his connection with the school, we knew that we wanted to do something to help. We are currently trying to raise £60,000 for school refurbishment but knew that we needed to do something for Marko as well. We hope that he is successful in his efforts and we are glad to have been able to contribute.”
