2020 was the most challenging year in living memory – the restrictions and impact to our daily lives resulted in many of us putting plans, goals and aspirations on hold.
Despite the hardship, there may be a few positives. Although this year will not be remembered for prosperity or good fortune, it will be remembered as a year that tested our resilience and highlighted our priorities.
After the turbulence of last year, it is important to identify the positives and areas of growth. This simple skill goes beyond a singular reflection. If practised regularly, the ability to find positives in every situation can become a key attribute to a strong mindset. Training yourself to identify positives will help you through adversity and aid personal growth.
So, we invite you to reflect, to identify the triumphs, understand the challenges and remember all that you’ve learnt. Take a moment to think about what you’ve overcome and to define the goals for 2021 using our 7-step Achievement Plan.
This a very special free gift for our wonderful newsletter readers and will help you to map out a happy, successful, joy and love-filled 2021!
Why is our 7-Step Achievement Plan Useful?
Our 7-step plan allows you to deconstruct the past year, using this to map out your future and define your goals. It confronts concerns, supports progressive behaviour, identifies a destination, and supports you in mapping out the journey.
Choose Your Goals Wisely
We are conditioned to focus on superficial goals such as materialistic possessions and aesthetics. The reality is no amount of stuff is going to leave you truly fulfilled, and true happiness doesn’t come from the way you look, it comes from how you feel. Even though marketing messages and social media do their best to convince you otherwise.
Use the 5 Building Blocks of Wellness as a roadmap when constructing your goals:
- – Mental
- – Emotional
- – Physical
- – Social
- – Spiritual
Have you focused and factored for all of these areas of your life?
Doing so ensures you achieve balance and also you approach your 2021 plan holistically.
Understand Your Motivation
We want to encourage you to take the time to reflect deeply and understand the driver behind each goal. Is it materialistic, superficial or is there something deeper behind it? Are you simply trying to meet an emotional need?
For example, purchasing a car is a materialistic goal. However, this may shorten a commute, or may provide a more peaceful journey, open up opportunities to travel and explore local surroundings. So, the deeper driver maybe giving someone more time and opportunity which can be used for pleasure and to achieve emotional satisfaction. Therefore, the car is not just a materialistic goal, it also has emotional benefits.
Understanding the reason why you want to achieve something will provide insight into your priorities and help you stay motivated.
Be Realistic, Practical and Kind to Yourself
There’s nothing worse than getting to the end of the year and finding that you’ve been unable to fulfil any of your goals. If 2020 has shown us anything, it’s demonstrated that things don’t always go to plan. Don’t give up or be unkind to yourself up if you don’t meet the aims, instead, acknowledge the progress you have made and learn from the mistakes. Break your goal down into sizable chunks and attainable steps to achieve your target. Sometimes you will fall and that’s okay, as long as you get back up.
Now let’s make the most of everything that 2021 has to offer! Give yourself the time and space to engage in creating your plan for the year ahead and wishing you the very best in achieving all of your hopes, dreams and goals!
As ever we are here to support you and wish you the best for this brand new shiny year that has just dawned!
